About Matt
Matt Wetherington leads a personal injury and wrongful death law firm that has earned the #1 ranking in Georgia by fellow attorneys two years in a row and achieved the highest honor from the Fulton County Daily Report with its induction into their Law Firm Hall of Fame. Driven by a firm belief in using the civil justice system to create meaningful change, he has secured new laws, regulations, and transformative industry practices through litigation.
Matt’s record includes dozens of successful class actions, appearances before the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, and recognition as a respected authority on the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence in the legal field. Early in his career, he gained attention as one of the youngest attorneys chosen for the Daily Report’s “On the Rise.” Soon afterward, his groundbreaking verdicts—most notably one of Georgia’s largest auto wreck verdicts—led to his induction into the ALM Verdicts Hall of Fame. He has also been honored as a Super Lawyer in Personal Injury and Products Liability.
Clients and referring attorneys alike find Matt’s approach reassuring and collaborative. His firm offers dedicated teams and clear guidance on every case, ensuring clients are informed and involved at each step. That commitment has led to repeated wins against global corporations and nearly every major insurance company in Georgia.
Beyond the courtroom, Matt invests in community support and professional development. A first-generation college graduate from Climax, Georgia, he credits his family, teachers, and mentors for helping him forge his path. In turn, he established the Tire Safety Group, a nonprofit preventing wrecks caused by defective tires, and chairs the Auto Accident Survivors of Georgia, which offers resources for accident survivors. He also co-founded the Legal Accelerator Network and Georgia Legal Accelerator program, enabling small-firm lawyers to grow their practices and serve the bar more effectively.
Matt’s dedication to progress extends to educational outreach, including his role on the PBS series Roadtrip Nation, where he joined figures like “Weird Al” Yankovic and Dr. Francis Collins in sharing insights on leadership, innovation, and resilience. Whether in the courtroom, classroom, or community, Matt’s focus remains on forging positive, lasting change.
