James
Cox
Attorney
James is relentlessly focused on identifying, exposing, and remedying dangerous products and corporate practices. His work has spanned a wide range of legal issues involving catastrophic injury claims, including landmark litigation against a publicly traded corporation caught poisoning our local communities with a known carcinogen. In cases of all sizes, difficulties, and complexities, James prides himself on tirelessly representing those wrongly injured by the negligence of others.
James’ Dedication to Service
James’s work has helped save millions of Americans from toxic exposure. In addition to representing those catastrophically injured, James maintains an active pro bono practice through the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. James also participates annually in the Young Lawyer’s Division Estate Planning Project in partnership with Atlanta Legal Aid.
Educational Background
A native of Clemson, South Carolina, James earned an Economics degree from Clemson University. While at the University of Georgia School of Law, he competed on and served as chair of the law school’s Mock Trial Team. James also prosecuted criminal cases, worked closely with legendary Professor Ronald L. Carlson to update his civil practice treatise on motions in limine, and participated as a Pupil in UGA Law’s Lumpkin Inn of Court where he gained insights from some of Georgia’s finest trial lawyers while in law school.
Attorney Cox: Outside of the Office
Beyond zealously representing his clients, James is actively involved in the state legal community. In June 2022, he was appointed as Co-Chair for the Georgia Bar Young Lawyer’s Division Disaster Legal Assistance Committee. In that role, James leads the state’s legal community in responding to natural disasters and providing pro bono legal services for those affected by those disasters. James also gives back by coaching his local public high school’s mock trial team in Smyrna, Georgia.
James recently moved to nearby Smyrna with his wife, Veronica Cox – a trial lawyer protecting employees from discrimination of all kinds – and their two dogs, Kodi and Azula. When not in the office, James enjoys playing board games, watching movies, camping, and visiting his parents in the Tennessee mountains.
